CONNEC(TX)IONS

Dance Festival

STAY TUNED FOR REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Connec(TX)ions Dance Festival (CTXDF) is a week-long celebration of professional dance performance and training in Texas. CTXDF offers a 6-day intensive workshop for professional dancers and pre-professional dancers culminating with two nights of performances by Texas-based professional dance companies.

We invite you to join us as we CONNECT, support other artists, and grow together in this immersive dance workshop and performance experience. Dancers will have the opportunity to study and explore ballet, modern, contemporary techniques and movement principles, as well as professional repertoire with a faculty of professional dancers and directors in the connec(TX)ions intensive workshop classes (M-S), as well as the unique performance opportunity (if selected) for our pre-professional dancers to share the stage with professional dancers in classical and contemporary works.

MoonFall

When: May 10-18, 7:30pm

Where: Dadalab, 2008 Alexander Ave, Austin, TX 78722

About:
MoonFall
is a new immersive and interactive mythic fantasy ballet that explores desire, climate change, community, and our relationship with the cosmos. At times poignant and at others delightful, MoonFall tells a story of the Sun and Moon’s dualistic orbit and the humans whose movements push and pull on their natural world. MoonFall is the brainchild of international dancer, choreographer, and producer Dorothy O’Shea Overbey and award-winning cinematic composer Sam Lipman. This innovative new theatrical experience is presented by two Austin arts organizations - Density512 and Red Nightfall Dance Theatre - with 12 local Austin professional dancers and a live chamber orchestra of 13 Austin musicians.

MoonFall bridges classical and contemporary styles and blurs the barrier between audiences and performers. Guests are invited to step into a fantasy world where they will be surrounded by floor-to-ceiling projections of the MoonFall world designed and painted by interdisciplinary artist Yuliya Lanina! Act 2 will feature three synchronous scenes, each taking place in a separate space. We invite you to choose your own path to experience these spaces, perhaps even following your favorite character from room to room.

This is a show for dance and classical music buffs, theatre-lovers, readers and players of fantasy, and world citizens of all ages! Attend in fantasy attire if you are inspired, and enter the realm of MoonFall half an hour before the show begins to experience optional activities that will influence the ballet. Try becoming a Sun Apprentice, cast a spell with some friends, or prepare for your journey at the Adventurer’s Shop and Tavern! Pre-show activities will influence the performance. At key points in the story, the cast will need the audience’s help to move the story forward.
